NASB: and he said, "Be it far from me before my God that I should do this. Shall I drink the blood of these men who went at the risk of their lives? For at the risk of their lives they brought it." Therefore he would not drink it. These things the three mighty men did. (NASB ©1995)
GWT: and said, "It's unthinkable that I would do this, God. Should I drink the blood of these men who risked their lives? They had to risk their lives to get this water." So he refused to drink it. These are the things which the three fighting men did.(GOD'S WORD®)

GSB: 11:19 And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the {e} blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with [the jeopardy of] their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
(e) That is, this water, for which they risked their lives.
WES: 11:19 Shall I drink the blood, and c. - It put him into the utmost confusion, to think three brave men should hazard their lives, to fetch water for him. In his account, it turns the water into blood. It is to the honour of great men, not to be prodigal of the blood of those they employ.
MHC: 11:10-47 An account is given of David's worthies, the great men who served him.
