NASB: For the sorrow that is according to [the will] [of] God produces a repentance without regret, [leading] to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. ASV: For godly sorrow worketh repentance unto salvation, a repentance which bringeth no regret: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. BBE: For the sorrow which God gives is the cause of salvation through a change of heart, in which there is no reason for grief: but the sorrow of the world is a cause of death. DBY: For grief according to God works repentance to salvation, never to be regretted; but the grief of the world works death. WEY: For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, a repentance not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world finally produces death. WBS: For godly sorrow worketh penitence to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. WEB: For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, which brings no regret.
